PROGRAMS
Transitions/Move-Ups
When we believe it is
time for your child to move up to the next class, we discuss or send a
letter home and include the parents as active participants in this
decision. Once you agree, your child is transitioned gradually and with
great sensitivity over a two-week period. This way we can prevent any
trauma or insecurities for you or your child. There is never a reason
for anxiety either by child or parent due to a classroom move.
Our Preschool Programs
Our
Preschool program is broken up into three completely separate classes
according to chronological age and developmental stage. We believe that
how children learn is as important as what they learn; therefore, we
have created an innovative and exciting Preschool curriculum. Kids
Choice offers weekly themes and coordinates events for all the children
at the center.
Room 1 - Infants (3 weeks to 12 months) - 1:4

During the first year of life your baby responds best to a warm, loving
environment. Holding your baby and responding to his/her cries are
essential in building a strong, healthy bond. Our infant room caregiver
to infant ratio is 1 to 4. Our schedule revolves around your infants
individual needs and development. Tummy time and snuggle time are a part
of your child's daily routine along with the various positioning
throughout the day. Keeping the infant environment sanitized and
disinfected is important and we have put definitive procedures in place
to insure cleanliness. Staff is required to adhere to all sanitary
measures. Toys are disinfected nightly. Changing tables are disinfected after each
individual diaper is changed. Caregivers are required to wear gloves
before each baby's diaper is changed. Each baby has his or her own crib.
Cribs are NEVER shared at Kids Choice. Nightly reports are ready for
parents at pick-up time. They reflect in detail, everything that went on
during the day, including new and exciting developments, diaper changes
and feedings.
Room 2 - Pre-Toddlers (12 months to 20 months) - 1:5

As babies grow, they begin to learn all kinds of new things. In this
room, we are helping your infant learn. We begin working with sign
language, using utensils for eating, weaning from a bottle to a sippy
cup, breaking from sleeping in a crib to sleeping on a raised cot,
sharing toys, listening, and many more fine motor skills. The ratio in
this room is 1 caregiver to 5 children, with no more than 10 children in
the classroom. Your child has grown into the mobile stage and is crawling/walking and exploring their fascinating environment. Their
curiosity is endless. This room is designed to be self-contained, with a
diaper changing station and a completely separate refrigerator and food
preparation area. There are plenty of toys, equipment, art supplies and
books. There is always lots of love given to all by our staff. Since
children at this age learn through play and exploration, we give them
the space, age appropriate materials and stimulation they need to help quench their thirst for exploration. Our weekly curriculum
gives our Toddlers valuable experiences to help them develop and learn.
At this stage, we focus on eye hand coordination, motor development and
problem solving. The Toddlers' natural inquisitiveness is encouraged and
nurtured. Kids Choice staff strives to ensure a safe, secure and loving
environment. Daily communication reports are ready at the end of the
day for parents to pick-up. These easy to read reports reflect
everything that went on in their child's day at Kids Choice.
Room 3 - Toddlers (20 months to 2.5 years) - 1:6
Our Toddler Program is the next stage of development following our
Infant program and serves children from 1 1/2 years to 2+ years. The
teacher/child ratio is 1 to 6. Curiosity, unbounded energy, and
independence characterize toddlerhood. Our Toddler teachers assist
children in channeling these abilities. The toddlers are offered
unstructured play time each morning in order to allow them to enter the
group at their own pace and encourage them to make choices within
defined options. We offer daily scheduled activities such as art, music,
physical activities, dramatic play and story time. Because we
understand the importance of flexibility with toddlers, we are prepared
to make changes and compromises to meet the ever-changing demands of children. Our toddlers
have their own outside play area with age appropriate equipment and
hands-on activities. Our teachers are also ready to assist the children
when they begin showing interest in going from diapers to using the
toilet on our child sized toilets designed to encourage potty
training. A day in the life of a Toddler is packed with fun! Nightly
reports are prepared so that parents may review their child's day
at Kids Choice.
Room 4 - Preschool 1 - (2.5 years to 3 years) - 1:6
The first of our preschool programs serves children from 2 1/2 years to 3
years. The teacher/child ratio is 1 to 6. Twaddlers have expanded their
language skills and can communicate verbally. Twaddler's love their
independence and exploration is their number one priority. Two of their
favorite expressions right now are "No!" and "Mine!". They are very
curious and love to explore. The teachers in our 2-year old rooms have
created a stimulating and warm environment for your children to grow and
feel secure exploring their independence. Our curriculum safely
encourages children to pursue their priority of exploring. The classroom
environment is designed to further enhance this inquisitive stage. Twaddler teachers are special
people who have tons of patience, lots of love and understanding and
adore this age group. They are equipped with the tools and knowledge
necessary to insure that each child has the opportunity to succeed, feel
secure, and remain content and happy. Once a child is mature enough to
handle "potty time" by himself/herself, and the staff and parents
believe the child is socially, physically, and emotionally ready to move
to the next classroom environment, the child will enter our next
Program. This program, designed to meet the special needs of maturing
twos and young threes, is a perfect bridge into our Prepper program.
Room 5 - Preschool 2 - (3 years to 4 years) - 1:10

The second of our preschool programs serves children from 3 years to 4
years. The teacher/child ratio is 1 to 10. 3-year olds are full of
wonder and enjoy spending time observing and imitating. They are very
curious at this age and fill their days by exploring the world around
them. We enrich their days in the classroom by providing them with lots
of hands-on activities. Because 3-year olds love to pretend, we provide
plenty of opportunities for dress-up and imaginative activities. In this
stage of development, there is a rapid increase in physical, cognitive,
developmental and social skills. The Prepper program provides a
balanced curriculum to satisfy this unique growth period. The children
are introduced to a new Learning Experiences and our Zoophonics program,
which is designed to challenge the rapidly developing verbal skills of
each child. The monthly curriculum covers language, science, social
studies, math, art, manipulatives, music and physical fitness. Children are also ready
to learn letter recognition, shapes, colors and numbers. Preppers
participate in more advanced arts and crafts and enjoy books read by
their teachers, playing games and engaging in finger plays. A Prepper's
day is packed with fun!
Room 6 - Preschool 3 - (4 years to 5 years) - 1:10
The third of our three preschool programs serves children from 4 years
to 5 years. The teacher/child ratio is 1 to 10. With their teachers
acting as guides and facilitators of learning, the children at Kids
Choice spend most of their time involved in "hands-on" activities, we
believe academic learning is most effective when it is playful and
exploratory. Our teachers in this program skillfully weave in academic
goals and objectives as they build on what children can do, and
challenge them to try new things. Children contribute their own ideas
and use their own problem-solving strategies to explore the world around
them. Children in this program continue with our Zoophonics program and
are introduced to pre-reading skills, math and science. At this stage,
children are very curious and eager to discover and master new skills.
Room 7 - Pre-K Class - (4 years to 5 years) - 1:10
We offer both a full-day and a half-day Pre-K program. This program is
offered to those children who will be attending or have missed the local
school cut-off and offers the opportunity for individual attention and
preparation for elementary school. How exciting is it when your child is
ready for one of the biggest steps he or she will take? Entering
Kindergarten! Selecting the appropriate Pre-K environment is
important. Our comprehensive program gives each child the opportunity to
learn from a variety of developmentally appropriate materials and
equipment. We believe that each child should learn at his or her own
pace. Our Pre-K environment encourages open-ended exploration, discovery
and investigation. The curriculum is designed to enhance each child's
self-confidence and to build each child's self-esteem. It gives the
children the opportunity for optimum growth in academics, socialization,
physical fitness, and emotional well being.
Pre K's learn and master many concepts:
• Write first and last name using the
proper capitalization, spacing and letter formation
• Recognize and print the alphabet
• Language
• Library and literature to enhance each
child's love of reading
• Recognize and write numbers
• Visual discrimination
• Health and nutrition
• Journal writing
• Understand the purpose of the calendar
• Identify our planet, country, state and
city in which they live
